spidercrab Can't beat a circle hook! I'd say 95% of the fish I catch, this is where the hook ends up. It reduces the chances of a gut hook and makes for easy hook removal. You don't need to jerk the hook for a setup. Just a good steady tug usually works for me. A couple of large pickerel were able to almost swallow the hook and then the fun begins. I have some pretty hacked up fingers just trying to pry the mouth open for pliers access. I was bleeding all over the place yesterday! These hooks work well in salt water as well. A much large one is used of course.
